You can reserve your own Corkpot game by emailing [email protected]. Corkpot's limited supply of version 1.0 will retail for $30 and is expected to be available in Winter 2024.
Corkpot was created in 2020 during the COVID-19 quarantine. Corkpot can be played by all ages and enjoyed by audiences everywhere and in any season. It's the perfect game for the yard, or to take with you to the game, park or the beach!
The goal of Corkpot is to score 7 points by tossing 3 corks into 2 pots. The pots are different sizes and earn the player different points depending on if the cork ricochets out of the pot or stays in the pot, and in which pot the cork lands. The beauty of Corkpot is that your opponent can play defense; if they catch your toss on a ricochet, they steal the point!
Teams of two players face the opposing team and their pots. (Two people can play Corkpot but it is more fun with four). Each team has three tosses per turn. Teams take turns tossing with the away team going first and a round consisting of 1 turn for each team. The offense tosses the corks with the goal of landing them in one of the two pots. Teams may play defense and try to catch the opposing teams tosses. The corks may only be caught when the cork bounces off the rim of a pot or out of a pot — no goaltending allowed.
The game is won when a team reaches 7 points. The predetermined "home team" has the last turn and must match or beat the away team’s score or the game is over. If the game is tied, play continues until the home team either is ahead or is unable to match the away team’s score.
Each Corkpot set comes with 3 specially designed official Corkpot corks. There are 4 pots, two on either side. The 2 smaller pots have a diameter of 6 inches while the 2 larger pots have a diameter of 12 inches.
Corkpot may be played with teams; either singles or doubles, but is more challenging when played with doubles.
Opposing pots must be set up 22 feet apart. The smaller pot must be placed in-front of the larger pot with 6 inches between them.
Ricocheting tosses off the rim or out of the pot are both worth 1 point. If a cork lands in the large pot without bouncing out the player earns 2 points. If a cork lands in the small pot without bouncing out the player earns 3 points; this is called “squaring a Tom”. 1 point may also be earned by catching the cork if it bounces off the rim or out of the pot; such catch also nullifies the point earned by the throwing team.
Keepers are in charge of recording points earned as well as umpiring to ensure fair play. Keepers must also monitor the pot setup prior to the game and ensure that the corks are appropriately swollen. Keeper must yell “TOM” when the cork lands in the small pot.
Seven points is needed to win but the game will go on if the home team is unable to match or beat the away team’s score at the end of a round. The game will only end when the home team is unable to match or beat the points earned by the away team during a round.
